spinControl:Linguist


spinControl:Linguist includes the core functionality of the basic Apple QTVR controller, and takes things up a notch by adding some simple parameters to the object/embed code. You can set custom colors for the text and background of the controller and for each of the buttons’ states (normal, highlighted, pressed). Each element of the buttons can be colored individually (arrow, outline, background)!
As if that isn’t enough, you can also:
  • AutoSpin (auto-rotate and optional auto-tilt) your QuickTime VR

  • Set AutoSpin to be on or off when your QTVR first loads

  • Set Hotspots to be on or off when your QTVR first loads

  • Let the user turn AutoSpin on or off

  • Disable the AutoSpin and Hotspot buttons

  • Set the direction and speed of AutoSpin

  • Completely hide any disabled buttons

  • Fade in two lines of your own custom text

  • Specify initial direction (up or down) of AutoTilt when your QTVR first loads

  • Play/Pause an Audio file

  • Set Audio to play or pause (be on/off) when your QTVR first loads

spinControl:Linguist also adds 8 languages to the controller! This gives you, the developer, the ability to further customize your users’ experience by offering it to them in their own (or a familiar) language! Here’s a list of all 9 languages:

  • English (“Click-and-drag on the image, or use this control bar to explore”)

  • Welsh (“Defnyddiwch y rheolyddion neu glicio a llusgo ar y ddelwedd i archwilio”)

  • Irish (“Bain úsáid as na rialaitheoirí nó cliceáil-is-tarraingt”)

  • German (“Bewegen Sie das Bild mit der Maus oder benutzen Sie die Navigation”)

  • French (“Cliquez-glissez dans l'image ou utilisez le contrôleur”)

  • Spanish (“Utilice los controles o tecleo-y-arrastre en la imagen para explorar”)

  • Italian (“Usa i comandi o trascina l’immagine per esplorare”)

  • Portuguese (“Clique e arraste em cima da imagem, ou utilize os comandos”)

  • Dutch (“Klik-en-sleep het beeld of gebruik deze navigatiebalk om rond te kijken”)

note: spinControl:Linguist relies on an internal Flash track. Users with QuickTime 7.1.3 installed will need to make sure to “Enable Flash” in their Advanced Quicktime Preferences.
